Alberto José Sánchez (Caracas, Venezuela, 1979) is an artist working within kinetic art and contemporary geometric abstraction. He studied Business and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan University of Venezuela, while maintaining an ongoing connection to artistic practice from an early stage.
He began experimenting early on with different techniques and materials, developing a particular interest in kinetic art, strongly influenced by the work of Carlos Cruz-Diez, a key reference in his artistic development, whom he would later meet in Paris.
In 2007, he developed a body of work focused on optical-geometric abstraction, based on two-dimensional forms that suggest three-dimensional structures through the use of color and the interaction of light and shadow. His practice constructs visual spaces in which perception becomes unstable and dynamic.
His work has been presented in galleries and art fairs across the Americas, Europe, and the United States, with a particular emphasis on large-scale public interventions, including murals and installations that engage directly with the urban environment.
In 2017, he received the award from the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art at the Geometric Art Biennial.
