Creatures
Rosalía Bronstein
25 May - 21 July 2023
Once upon a time, there was a timeless time. A time when clay and blood, matter and life, combined in apparent chaos. And it is precisely from this confusion that creatures emerge, those ancestral beings whose energy continues to throb among us. Disturbingly beautiful, they are all and none of the archetypes at once: Virgin, Whore, Mother, and Daughter. The power of the feminine radiates in each of these beings.
With this exhibition, Rosalía Bronstein presents her first series, “Creatures.” Her work recreates a cosmogony in which symbolism and color play a key role. The ambivalent bodies of the figures dialogue with fruits, roses, veils, and masks, cyclically transforming into each of the beings that make up the individual. In her work, we can appreciate how the struggle between opposites is inherent to the human condition. These images simultaneously evoke pain and pleasure, the sacred and the profane, beauty and ugliness, rejection and desire, life and death.
