Antoni Tàpies (b. 1923, Barcelona, Spain – d. 2012, Barcelona, Spain) was a key painter and sculptor of Informalism and Material Art. His work combines rough textures, unconventional materials and graphic symbols, exploring matter and spirituality.
Tàpies developed a personal language that blends tradition and modernity, with influences from Eastern art and philosophy. His work addresses themes such as memory, the body, and death, making him one of the most internationally recognized Spanish artists.
