Fernando Botero (b. 1932, Medellín, Colombia) is a painter and sculptor recognized for his unique style of exaggerating and rounding human forms and objects, known as “Boterismo.” His work blends humor, social criticism, and a distinctive approach to proportion and volume.
Botero has portrayed everything from everyday scenes to political and religious themes, with a marked sense of irony and vibrant colors. His monumental sculptures are displayed in public squares and museums around the world. He has also addressed sensitive topics, such as violence in Colombia, with a visually thought-provoking approach.
