Victor Vasarely
Painter and master of optical art
Victor Vasarely (b. 1906, Pécs, Hungary – d. 1997, Paris, France) is considered the father of optical art (Op Art). His work is characterized by geometric compositions that create visual illusions and movement effects through color and shape.
Vasarely sought to democratize art, making the viewer’s perception an active part of the work. His legacy is fundamental to the development of kinetic art and research on visual perception in the 20th century.
